The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells features a unique dial system that allows the user to select the desired weight. Adjustable from 5 to 52.5 pounds you are essentially getting 15 weights into one package. In addition the dumbbells are surrounded in a durable moulding that keeps the weights from chipping and reduced the amount of noise made when lifting out of their stand. The key benefit of the BowFlex dumbbells is their dial system. Called SelectTech, these dumbbells use a locking mechanism that seeks and then locks exactly the weight you choose. Think of it like a safe – you choose the combination for the weight you want and starting lifting.
When you buy these adjustable dumbbells, you also get a stand to store the weight set. The stand is a moulded plastic holder that allow the weights to sit securely without rolling around. When you turn the SelectTech to your chosen weight, you simply lift the weights out of this stand and the weights you don’t need for the weight you selected stay in the stand. Bowflex has an optional stand that will bring the weights to about waist level so you do not need to pick them off the ground.

As of this writing, there are 218 4 and 5-star reviews, and 38 reviews 3 stars and under. A pretty good rating for this particular product line for these adjustable dumbbells for sale. Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells has received positive reviews from people who have bought and used the product. The online reviews are very good. Many of the reviewers commented on how well built these adjustable dumbbells are. A number of the reviews commented that there was very little to no rattle from the weights as they were used. There were defiantly a number of reviewers who have used these weights with the popular P90x program.
There were two common issues the people who rated the product 3 stars or less. The first was the length of each weight. They are 16 inches long which can make some exercises difficult, such as tricepts kickbacks or dumbbell rows. This appeared to be a manageable issue with people who commented, but it is something to consider. The second issue was that these weights should not be dropped or thrown around. The way the SelectTech works relies on the actual weights to stay in position to work properly. If these weights are roughly handled their is a risk of the weights getting out of line leading the SelectTech to not work as smoothly as designed. This can create a safety issue as a plate can come loose. However, the rebuttal comments to this issue stated that if some care was taken to not treat the weights in too rough of a manner, the issue would be overcome.
